The mouse and keyboard are very good and efficient ways of controlling your computer. But what if you control it using a regular remote, just like controlling a TV or DVD player? This is now possible with the help of an Infrared receiver connected to your computer and the Intelliremote application. This Windows program allows you to program your computer to accept signals from almost any kind of remote and perform various operations and tasks, which normally can be performed only by using the mouse or keyboard.

After installing the application, the user will first need to plug in his Infrared device to the computer. After that, one will be able to customize each Windows task or operation and assign it to a specific button on the remote. Basically, the user will only need to select the desired action and then click on the Learn code button and press the desired remote button. At that point, Intelliremote will learn the code of the remote button and store it in its database. In the future, when the user will press that specific remote button, the configured task will be immediately run.

But Intelliremote doesn't only support Windows tasks and operations, as it's also compatible with the most popular applications, like VLC, Winamp, Windows Media Center and so on. It's enough to click on the application's graphical icon in the left part of the interface, in order to have access to all its options and features. There is also a mobile version of Intelliremote, which can be installed on any Android or iOS enabled device, transforming it into an advanced remote control, which can control Windows options and tasks using the Internet.
